Always carry a tow rope. You never know when you will need it. Occasions can arise on what may appear to be the easiest of day paddles and you need to be able to deploy it easily and immediately. It's no use in the day hatch if you can't get it out in suddenly difficult conditions and you are struggling to even hold on to the paddle. It does happen! Make sure it's easy to access, easy to deploy, easy to retrieve and easy to stow.
