Paddling Tips

Sooner or later the plastic tube on your hydration bladder will start looking less than hygienic as unspecified biological matter begins to grow inside. This can be very difficult to clean out but Milton anti-bacterial tablets which are used for cleaning babies bottles etc. works wonders. It is readily available in the baby section of your local supermarket and relatively inexpensive. Just add a couple of tablets to water and soak for 15 minutes. Stubborn cases may need overnight or repeat soakings. Give it a try.

Interested in joining the club?

We have over 150 members, and we're proud of our philosophy, club standards and history.

Before filling in the application form we'd strongly encourage you to read the club constitution, club philosophy and club participation standards to better understand the philosophy and standards that the club expects members to uphold.  We also recommend that all new members familiarise themselves with MAST's Tasmanian Safe Boating Handbook.

You should also be aware that all new members are expected to participate in a Basic Skills Training Day as soon as practicable after joining the club (one is run approximately every two months).  These days are an opportunity for new members to learn the gear requirements and on-water skills required by all club members and they are also our way of ensuring that all members have the basic skills required for club trips (such as wet exits) and understand the philosophy that underlies our paddling trips and other events.  The majority of club trips (unless participating as a guest of an existing member agreed to by the trip coordinator) will require that you have participated in the Basic Skills Training.

If you're still interested in joining us then please download and fill in the application form and send it with a cheque to:
